How to make self raising flour from all purpose or normal plain flour?
Basically self raising flour is normal white all purpose (plain flour called around here) with higher Sodium / salt content. My packaging mentiones 845mg – milligrams – of sodium per 100g – grams. And added into the mix is also a raising agent, sodium bicarbonate and thiamine. I did a quick research on this and the numbers as per the SR flour I have at home worked out well.
1 cup of plain AP flour + 1 1/2 tsp of baking powder + 1/2 tsp of salt = self raising flour
The recipe in detail. Basically #2 : add into every cup volume of your all purpose flour (AP flour) 0.5 teaspoon of table salt plus 1.5 teaspoon of baking powder. This will make you the self rising flour type for what recipe you plan to use it.

Calculating plain flour to self raising flour in metric conversion.
1 metric cup of plain flour equals 250 milliliters in volume. Therefore, 4 Mtr. cups = 1 liter of PF
1 metric teaspoon equals 5ml | 1.5 teasp = 7.5ml | 0.5 teasp = 2.5ml
To turn this amount of PF into SR, self rising flour, requires 30ml ( 30 milliliters = 6 teaspoons ) of baking powder plus 2 tea spoons ( 10 milliliters ) of salt.
